Hou Yi and Huang LaoShi!

For those of you who were not around (a square) on that day, here's some pictures to make you feel like you were there. But you weren't. HAH. Sorry sorry~

Look! It's green tea cake with hong dou (red beans) from RT bakery in SS15! Ooo...

Ah! But Julie Ong forgot to bring a knife. Actually I think RT didn't give her one. So Uncle John (father of Denice Chen) lent her his nifty pocket knife. Too bad the blade was about an inch long only. See Hou Yi try to stab the cake with it? Huang LaoShi had the right idea though.

Luckily (?) Jonathan Obama had bought a new sword that day. See, here is The Mighty HRB cleaning the aforesaid sword so we wouldn't get...tetanus. =/

And who, you ask, is this pro cake cutter?

Why, Julie Ong, of course! In this picture:
Julie: Wha-chaaa!
Jun Huang: Nom strawberry!

HAPPY HAPPY CAKE EATING PEOPLE!

I know these pig buns are not related but I went to Canton-i yesterday and ate these. Aren't they CUTE? *squeal*

Hoohoohoo.

Captain Planet!

"EARTH!"
"FIRE!"
"WIND!"
"WATER!"
"HEART!"

"Go Planet!"

"By your powers combined, I am Captain Planet!"

Captain Planet, he's our hero
Gonna take pollution down to zero

He's our powers magnified
And he's fighting on the planet's side

Captain Planet, he's our hero
Gonna take pollution down to zero

Gonna help him put asunder
Bad guys who like to loot and plunder

"You'll pay for this Captain Planet!"

We're the Planeteers
You can be one too
'Cause saving our planet is the thing to do!

Looting and polluting is not the way
Hear what Captain Planet has to say!

"The Power is Yours!"

Now we can all sing along to Captain Planet!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY HUANG LAOSHI!

P.S: This year's camp song? Help me convince HRB...

Performance at MBSA

SNAWD, that is to say:

Hou Yi
Nat
Denice
Rocky Zhai
Jia Jun the Boy Wonder
Xiang Ting the Stinky
Obama

had a performance at Majlis Bandaraya Shah Alam on Saturday. It was a very stressful experience for all of us.

First of all, we waited for the transport from MBSA to come at 2 p.m. but they arrived at 2.20 p.m. Never mind that. At least they were kind of cool. But some people were late so we had to leave without them.

Reached the bangunan MBSA. Do you know how long we waited to perform?? More than an hour! I think it was close to 2 hours waiting like morons under a tent while the VIP appeared and left, and they had really weird competitions. Did you know there was such a thing as Pertandingan Basikal Perlahan?? Now I do.

Finally the late ones arrived. But still we waited. I mean, come on! Everybody was very pissed, I think, by the time they were telling us to get ready. I mean, nobody seemed to know what was going on, for one thing, and for another, it ain't RIGHT to make us wait so long. Plus there was this group of hamsup looking guys that kept looking at Denice all one-kind, so we had to be extra careful. By the time we actually performed, the VIP had left, okay!!

I know Hou Yi was damn mad. She was going to ASPLODE.

That's what I thought she'd do.

Anyway we performed, but we cut it short because:

1. We was MAAAD.
2. It was starting to rain, and there was lightning. Some of us do use metal weapons, you know.

So after that we quickly packed up and left, and I noticed the silambam team looked madder than us because they had to wait longer still!

We were waylaid by a reporter who wanted to do a piece on us. That was kind of cool.

But all in all, the performance? Not cool. Very stressful!

Just a lil' something that I'd like to share

As you all know, I have been down on a flu for the weekend. Originally, I planned to skip training. But then, my coach said that they were gonna record the rehearsal for an upcoming performance and it is of utmost importance that everyone shows up. So, I spent 3 hours there rehearsing while feeling drowsy and all.

Then, at about 7pm, when they were gonna start recording, my coach asked me to go and rest. I wanted to, but my subconscious told me not to. Then I thought "I spent my Sunday here just for the recording. There's NO WAY that I'm gonna skip the most important part. What's the point of showing up on an important day if you miss the most important part? If any of you guys were in the same position, I bet you would have hanged on." So I told my coach "I'm gonna do it." He said "But you're sick.", and I said "I will not make my presence be meaningless."

He went like O.O and gave me a thumbs up while saying "You really are peculiar." The line "If any of you guys were in the same position, I bet you would have hanged on." kept playing in my mind. For some unknown reason, tears started to well up my eyes. All of a sudden, the fatigue in my body vanished into thin air, and I could open my eyes wide again.

I have no idea why that happened. Perhaps SNAWD is just magic to me.

Well, that's all I have to share. Until next time, folks.

Ro Bin among five inducted into Hall of Fame

PETALING JAYA: Former Asian Games gold medallists Ho Ro Bin and Lim Keng Liat are among five outstanding former athletes and officials who will be inducted into the Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM) Hall of Fame.

Ro Bin is the most successful Malaysian wushu athlete to date. He was the country’s first gold medal in the sport at the 2002 Busan Asiad. He also emerged as the world champion twice – in 1999 and 2005.

In the SEA Games between 1999 and 2005, Ro Bin won a total of three gold medals before retiring from competition in 2006 to become a coach.

Keng Liat is the most outstanding Malaysian swimmer and he is only one to have won an Asian Games gold medal in the sport — in Bangkok in 1998.

Keng Liat was also a good student, graduating from the University of Berkeley in California under a full athletic scholarship.

Also inducted into the Hall of Fame are former national badminton coach Datuk James Selvaraj, former president of the Malay-sian National Cycling Federation (MNCF) and Asian Cycling Congress (ACC) Tan Sri Darshan Singh Gill and former national cricket captain Datuk Professor Emeritus Dr A.E. Delilkan.

James was a national player from 1975 to 1982 and he was a member of the Thomas Cup team who were the runners-up to Indonesia in 1976.

Darshan initiated the idea and helped raise funds from the public to build the first velodrome in Malaysia, named Velodrome Rakyat in Ipoh. And the track cycling competitions of the 1989 SEA Games were held there.

The five sports personalities will be officially inducted into the Hall of Fame at the OCM annual dinner on Saturday.

The male and female Olympian of the Year awards and the selection will be made based on the achievements in the Laos SEA Games last month.

Swimmer Daniel Bego, who won five gold medals, is the hot favourite to take the men’s award.

The award in the female category is expected to go to the badminton team, who ended a 34-year gold medal drought for Malaysia in the event in Vientiane.

Sunway Lagoon!

Here we go. On the 31st of December 2009 (wah so long ago) a bunch of us went to Sunway Lagoon.

I got there at 1010 am, only to find out that THAT SMART FELLOW WEI CHUNG told Hou Yi and Rocky and Ah Yap to be there at 930 am instead. Hou Yi was so freaking pissed-ly mad at Wei Chung, I think she is STILL mad. And then Rocky got mad too, then Ah Yap got mad, and pretty soon they were all mad at Wei Chung. And then I got mad cos I had to wake up so early. Meh.

Anyway we all arrived eventually and we bought tickets, thanks to business-like as always Julie Ong who grabbed our money and went to stand in line while the less useful people just hung around talking and delaying everything. By the way I think Julie is very bu nai with me or something because recently she has been very quiet.

So in we went and we terus drop our stuff into lockers so we wouldn't be weighed down hauling crap all day. Boy oh boy, has Sunway Lagoon changed over the years. The last time I went was when I was in Form 2. Making that 5 years since I'd set foot in Sunway Lagoon. They have super cool PIN number lockers now! Wow! Also no more tacky paper wristbands to enter. It's hi-tech rubber, chip-encoded watch style wristbands now! *fangirly squeal*

Anyway, Ah Yap, Ken & bro (sorry, I dunno his name) and SeaChan were there to give us a bit of a SUPPLIES. Surprise, geddit? Never mind.

So in we went and we spent an entire day riding rides, splashing in the surf pool and screaming (Denice). I think the Scream Park was not very chi kek but I guess Xiang Ting sure thought it was. She closed her eyes and hugged Hui Ping the entire way and made ME hug her from behind too. o.O And the whole way we had to make sure Hui Ping didn't start throwing punches at the "ghosts" who disturbed Xiang Ting. Although I did hear later on that Wei Chung tried to punch one of the ghosts.

For one thing, I couldn't see for nuts. Then they took us to some supposedly "Prison Break" style-y place and they used so many strobe lights that I very nearly lay down on the floor and had an epileptic fit. *froths at mouth to prove point*

And THEN we tried to go on the merry-go-round (carousel for you posh types) but they said "Sorry, kids only", leaving us fuming in disgust. Also rode the Tomahawk! It was awesomeeee!! Oh, and for those who have not been to Sunway Pyramid in a long time, remember that ride, Pirates' Revenge? It used to swing from side to side, no? Now it does 360's too. Scared me at first. Also, when you are upside down and you scream, it makes your head wanna explode. I learned that the hard way so I could tell you all how it feels. Haha.

Went off to shower as per business-woman Julie's plan at 4.30 or so. We were supposed to meet Amelia, Andrea and Wei Yoong at Pyramid for dinner, but we wanted to celebrate Amelia's birthday so Wei Chung and Ah Yap were dispatched to buy a cake. Which could have been a big deal, seeing as how Amelia does not like cake. But we got brownies. Or should I say, a reallyreally big huge brownie the size of Iowa.

Anyhow. We were halfway walking in Pyramid, and being rather shifty, I might add, when we bumped into Amelia, Andrea and Wei Yoong. There was also this guy who nobody noticed at first standing with them. I thought he was a stranger when I saw him talking to Amelia, I was all "Woah! Do we talk to strangers now?" but he turned out to be Amelia's *ahem* friend, Xing Zhong. I hope I spelled it right.

So we went off to Sushi Zanmai, or something like that for dinner. Spent some time hanging about outside the restaurant while Julie went to line up. Then as we were taking some piccies, Julie stepped out of the line and came to take piccies with us! What gives?? So Wei Yoong asked her "Eh, no need to line up arh?" and she went "No lah, I no need to line up. See? I just sit here and wait." Phew.

Anyway we had dinner there (I had soba and Dragon Roll, yumyum) and we surprised Amelia (jeng3) with the brownie! And I think we amused the waiter very much, you could totally tell he never had any people like us to deal with before. Most of the time he just looked bemused. Especially when we told him to go out and bring the brownie in again. O.o

After dinner, we all split up to go...I don't know. Then Xiang Ting and Denice ditched me to go shopping, leaving me feeling rather put out and stuck with Wei Chung, Wan Chee (who was also put out) and Ah Yap. The Ah Yap went to Asian Avenue to play this weird dancing game in which you have to wave your arms around. Something like DDR but for the arms. @@

Anyhoo we went to A&W for some drinks and there we met Huang Laoshi and bro and Shin Yii Laoshi. Met up with the rest at 10.00pm and went outside to wait for the countdown.

But, funnily enough, Sunway Pyramid doesn't supply a BIG clock or anything like that to countdown. Au contraire. We had to keep looking at our watches to know the time. Anyhow, the remaining 2 hours passed filled with big huddle-style "meetings", yelling, carrying Wei Yoong, posing for photos, doing nothing and buying (me), hauling (me again) and drinking water.

And then finally they released the fireworks and everyone was so unprepared we just went "HAPPY NEW YEAR !!! AAAAHHH" and started spraying each other in the face with Crazy String and Snow Spray. And then Ah Yap hit me in the face with a FWOOSH of Crazy String and I ended up tasting some of it. It tastes like how it smells, for the record.

Went yumcha with the coaches, Wei Chung and the KL guys and reached home at 2 a.m. Also had a nasty hangover the next day.

AWESOME!
