National Wushu Championships 2009 Rundown

You both did amazingly well. We are all very, very proud of you. You should be too!

Love you both!
Although you might not willingly admit it, we know you love us too!

Nat for SNAWD

Eat M&M's
Ice cream makes you feel happy
Roast beef and potatoes.

That haiku was brought to you by...HOU YI.
No, actually it was Nat, reluctant to take credit for such a lame haiku.

And the photo has nothing to do with us being proud of Shaun and Wei Yoong Mangkuk whatsoever. The photo is just proof that the mangkuk-ness is a contagious disease. It is also proof that Xiang Ting Chou Tou Fu and Andela look kind of the same if you cover their mouths.

Today my mom became Ho Mun Hwa's number 1 fan! (Don't tell her I said this.)

She was like making eye contact with him all the time so he was smiling at her like so pai seh, then he came and talked to her. Luckily he recognised me too. YAY. Then after he left she was like, "Aiyah, too bad we didn't bring the camera, otherwise I will take a photo with him!" I conveniently forgot to tell her the camera was in my bag.

Speaking of number 1 fans, some random guy came up to HRB the Mighty and asked him to take photo with him!! O.O Han Choong Laoshi had a good laugh.

And today while he was watching the taijijian event, another random guy came up and asked HRB The Mighty to sign a copy of Kinta. Hee hee hee.

Woah!

What The Senses Did Today

Today I saw...
...the flash of a weapon.
...the National Wushu Championships.
...my team.
...jaw-dropping, heart-stopping, mind-numbing, insanely mad wushu skills.
...the ugliest lime green costume I have ever seen.
...more skills.
...even more skills.
...some small kid do the most amazing traditional wushu I have yet to see.
...the same small kid pull off an amazing Drunken Fist routine.
...national team players.
...ce kong fan zuan ti. That's roughly translated to "empty cartwheel turn body", also known as cartwheel without hands while twisting the body.O.O
...xuan zi zuan ti. That's more or less a butterfly jump while twisting the body. More O.O

Today I heard...
...the snick of the jian.
...the loud fwrupp of the dao.
...the snap of the nandao.
...the yells from the southern events.
...the satisfactory wumpf made when an athlete nails a perfect landing.
...the cheers from the crowd.
...a guy's voice break when he yelled.
...the encouragement yelled at the sanshou players by their coaches.

Today I smelled...
...the inside of my mask. Boring.
...sweat.
...McDonald's breakfast set!
...more of my mask.

Today I felt...
...that the stadium lights were searing the inside of my brain.
...the toilet was so far away.
...really, really relieved when I got to the toilet at last.
...kind of sorry for Wen Jie.
...a sudden urge to throttle Amelia.
...maybe more than a little left out.
...an inexplicable urge to cry in front of HRB The Mighty.
...oh, so very tired.
...freakishly bored.
...sad.

Today I wished...
...I had that red NWC shirt!
...I was going for the dinner, too.
...I wasn't part of the audience.
...I was going as an athlete.
...I had such mad skills, too.
...Wei Yoong pwnd someone over.
...Shaun pwns someone over tomorrow.
...I had someone to talk to.

And that is what I did today.

Something to Think About. Or just read.

' "Hope?" Chaos laughed again. "I see no hope! I see only despair!"

The fragments of rock changed to daemon warriors, imps of Chaos that were formed of the terrors of every person who had ever lived. Colorless and shifting like bad dreams, the daemon warriors appeared different to each who fought them, taking on the shape of the thing each person feared the most.

Up from the rift came fire dragons. Made in mockery of real dragons, the fire dragons were formed of magma, their scales obsidian, their wings and manes flame, their eyes blazing embers. They belched noxious gases from the bowels of the world. Sparks flew from their wings, setting ablaze anything over which they flew.

The knights stared at these monsters in despair; their faces blanched in dismay and fear as the horrible creatures surged forward to attack. The standards slid from shaking hands, began to dip toward the ground.

Chaos pointed at the Solamnic Knights.
"Paladine is dead! You fight alone."
Chaos turned to the dark knights.
"Takhisis has fled! You fight alone."

Chaos spread his enormous arms, which seemed to encompass the universe.
"There is no hope. You have no gods. What have you left?"

Steel drew his sword and raised it in the air. The metal did not reflect the fire, but shone white, argent, like moonlight on ice.

"Each other," he answered. '

Nat Is SICK

Nat is sick. Stay far far away from her. You can get sick by just reading this post, such is the awesomesauce power of her sickness.

Hopefully I can make it for the opening ceremony tomorrow. Also I hope Shaun and Mangkuk forgive me for staying far far away from them if I see them at the competition.

We are going to Cameron's on Wednesday, so that means I'll be free during the competition days. HOWEVER, trial exams are up soon, so I should probably stay at home and study and reduce the risk of all those athletes getting sick. Unless I go cough on Shaun's and Wei Yoong's competitors?

No, that wouldn't be nice.

Good luck, Shaun & Wei Yoong!
SNAWD is behind you all the way!
P.S: I hope you both have packed your luggage by now.

Also a little note to Julie,

Hang in there, Julie. SNAWD is always on your side.

h1n1

Take these everyday steps to protect your health:

  • Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze. Throw the tissue in the trash after you use it.
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water, especially after you cough or sneeze. Alcohol-based hand cleaners* are also effective.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth. Germs spread this way.
  • Try to avoid close contact with sick people.
  • If you are sick with flu-like illness, CDC recommends that you stay home for at least 24 hours after your fever is gone except to get medical care or for other necessities. (Your fever should be gone without the use of a fever-reducing medicine.) Keep away from others as much as possible to keep from making others sick.

Other important actions that you can take are:

  • Follow public health advice regarding school closures, avoiding crowds and other social distancing measures.
  • Be prepared in case you get sick and need to stay home for a week or so; a supply of over-the-counter medicines, alcohol-based hand rubs,* tissues and other related items might could be useful and help avoid the need to make trips out in public while you are sick and contagious

In children, emergency warning signs that need urgent medical attention include:

  • Fast breathing or trouble breathing
  • Bluish or gray skin color
  • Not drinking enough fluids
  • Severe or persistent vomiting
  • Not waking up or not interacting
  • Being so irritable that the child does not want to be held
  • Flu-like symptoms improve but then return with fever and worse cough

In adults, emergency warning signs that need urgent medical attention include:

  • Difficulty breathing or shortness of breath
  • Pain or pressure in the chest or abdomen
  • Sudden dizziness
  • Confusion
  • Severe or persistent vomiting
  • Flu-like symptoms improve but then return with fever and worse cough
its getting serious people...
a teacher from SMK USJ 12 just passed away.. may she RIP...

THis email i received... its a real story... read it!!!

JUST A SMALL BUT MEANINGFUL INFO FM ME TO YOU AND YR FRIENDS...MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE OF H1N1 SINCE IT PRACTICALLY HIT US LIKE A TIME BOMB.....

My staff was crying herself sick on Tuesday morning...was told that her son was confirmed of H1N1 in his Uni at Kangar, Perlis...worse was that when he was bedridden 2 days the warden didnt even bother to sent to hospital till his dad came fm KL and with his friends assistance brought him to GH Kangar....

No one bothered in the hospital and he was put in the normal ward for another 2 days!!! (imagine the amount of people he has infected!!) .....after 2 days and his eyes were turning yellow and saliva greenish...he was put in quarantined room...

His mom practically fainted just telling me the story.. cant do much cos she does not have enough money to go to the north with the father...

First thing we did was made her call the hospital and insist that they sent him to Sg.Buloh Hospital or any other hospital in KL since they seemed to be more alert and more equipt...they refused of course...so I sent her off to Kangar the same day to solve the problem.

Whilst this was happening, I had a call from one Ustaz who was in town to "help cure" another H1N1 child in Shah Alam....and was told this simple prescription by him.....

EAT MINIMUM 6 GREEN APPLES
A DAY AND FRESH ORANGE JUICE
for those with sore throat please blend the apples and keep on taking till your fever disappear and yr symtoms are gone....I cannot explain it but the child in Shah Alam was ok too after taking this tip....

my staff's son was given the apple juice for the whole day on Monday/Tuesday and he was out of the fever yesterday Wednesday... .she called me and was crying on the phone to say that her son was out of ICU and was able to eat normally...all these happened within just 4 days today (thursday 6 august)...

This is just to share with my fellow sisters and brothers and hope this small info could assist others as well, No harm in trying and anything can happen!!!!
