Of Rocks and Loitering on Tues- day and nights

Hey there, it's me again! I shall now document the most recent SNAWDian gathering in 1 Utama.

17/11/2009, Tuesday

It was 8.54 a.m. when I received a call from Wei Yoong who asked me to head forth to Sunway Pyramid ASAP as he would be there early. Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances, I was only able to make it to Sunway Pyramid at 11 a.m., causing Wei Yoong to miss his 10.45 movie. We decided to make our way to the bowling alley for a round of bowling. Thanks, Wei Yoong, for teaching me how to pick a ball. Despite several epic misses, I DID manage to score a spare, leaving Wei Yoong jaw-dropped. Even so, I, the first-timer, still lost with a score of 56:98. After that, we loitered around in Sunway Pyramid before settling down in a fast food restaurant where Wei Yoong spotted his friend. We chatted away for around half an hour or so.

After Wei Yoong's friend left, we stared at the skating rink until Julie finally showed up. We proceeded to Asian Avenue and decided to have lunch at a Taiwanese-styled restaurant which apparently only sells six types of dishes. We proceeded to 1 Utama in Julie's car after munching down all the food.

Sub-plot: On the way, Wei Yoong received a phone call from Andela who stated that she would come along, much to our astonishment as we thought that she was going to have ballet lessons.

We arrived at 1 Utama at 2 something (something as I have forgotten the exact time). Julie was in heaven when we visited the OriginalFake boutique. We also visited other boutiques, with Wei Yoong and Julie constantly giving me fashion tips and recommending clothes to me, and me being very irritated by it as I hate picking clothes.

We rendezvoused with Amelia and Andela in front of some kiddy-play-park-thingy. Then, we went upstairs and proceeded to Camp 5 Climbing Gym, the main attraction of the day. Each of us had to sign a liability form that made Camp 5 non-liable for any harm done to us. We also realized that the rock-climbing shoes were extremely tight fitting and every one of us had to get a pair that was one size larger than our usual.

After gearing up, the Marshall led us to the beginner's course which looked like one giant rock, a stunt which all five of us pulled off with ease. The speed of which Julie did her climbs was just plain amazing. Immediately after that, we were instructed to climb the 5m High Ball Boulder, which was still fairly easy. Wei Yoong took some interesting photos from the top of the wall. Do remember to bug him for 'em.

Having completed the easy part of the game, we were led to the 8m Castle walls. Albeit being a tad more tiring, the two climbs there were still manageable. One interesting thing to note was the funny noises that Amelia made when she rappelled down from the top of the walls. She was like shouting away every time she had to come down.

In the last 15 minutes, we were told to try out the 12m Auto Belay wall at the entrance. Everyone but me managed to finish the whole 12m stretch. At about 9m, I lost my footing twice and nearly fell. Refusing to give up, I forcefully pressed my feet against the wall and used my arms to lift myself up several steps. However, my left arm cramped and I would have plunged to hell if it weren't for the safety harness. Gah. Useless arm.

Amelia and Andela went off right after that as Andela has to rush to a tuition class. Wei Yoong and I accompanied Julie for some more shopping. We came by a very interesting shop in which Wei Yoong bought a gift for Mary. I'm not giving too much details here as that would ruin the surprise. We had dinner at Wong Kok (again?) and yadaa-ed for quite a while.

After that, we decided to head to Puchong as teacher Robin had a task for Julie. Then, Wei Yoong followed Zhen Xuan home. Again, the Sri Melur chapter is out of topic.

Hmm. That should be good enough.
